Togetherness

This is a collaborative project we did with a friend during my art therapy studies that came up spontaneously. I took some clay in my hands and my friend found clay attractive and she asked me to give her some, so I cut a piece of mine and I shared it with her. We continued our art-making in different studios. I was playing with the clay in my hands and gradually this figure arose. It is a woman ready to protect, provide care and give power. When I saw what my friend made we were surprised by the connection between our pieces. It looked like mother and child. We glassed them together supporting the togetherness that our art pieces proposed to us. Putting them together we realized that my piece cannot stand on its own, but it needs the support of my friend’s piece. So they stayed connected taking care and supporting each other.
