Stella

This is a painting of a friend by the river who became a model for the first time. How comfortable do we feel to be looked at and painted as females? Being both females created safety and comfort to just try it and see what comes out. While I was painting her she was wondering how she should stand as a model and where she should look, my openness gave her the freedom to actively choose. The simplicity and the acceptance from both of us gave the space for her powerful and active look to occur.
